OFFICIAL PIX LAUNCHES PHOTO SITE: $8.99 FOR AN UNSIGNED COLOR PHOTO!

The company that has the exclusive license for Star Wars photos in the United States is Official Pix, owned by the same people who own C2 Ventures, RebelScum.com and TheForce.net. Tonight, they posted their photos for the very first time. An UNSIGNED 8x10 photo is $8.99 -- more than 50% higher than what people usually pay for photos at a convention. While we can respect that this is a business, nine bucks for a photo is just a horrible thing. This will cause autograph prices to rise at conventions and we just can't see this as a positive thing for the hobby.

CELEBRATION 3 PRICING INFO

Official Pix's guru Ben Stevens posted this at another site's forums:

At Celebration III, coupons will be sold for $10/each. Most actors will require one coupon in exchange for an autograph on your item, a few guests will require two, and a few at three. Right now no one is more than three, but a big name headliner would be the exception.

Licensed 8x10 Star Wars photos with the Celebration III logo will be available for $5 each.

Official Pix will also have a booth on the main floor of the show with other size licensed photos available. In addition, we will have licensed autographs from non-attending actors!

THE MOST POWERFUL JEDI, JORG SACUL IS...

The greatest Jedi of them all, George Lucas, recently sent an autographed photo to a six-year-old who's fighting a brain tumor. As collectors, we often are involved in a hobby that benefits only ourselves. Sometimes, it's nice to know about an autograph with a good story that's done for good reasons. In this case:

Katie is a 6 year old girl from Columbia SC who recently was diagnosed with a glioma brain tumor located in the pons of the brain stem. It is virtually unreachable surgically. This makes the tumor much more threatening than a tumor found on the cortex, where it can be cut out with relative ease. This has cast a pall over the prognosis of the cancer, but we are not giving up.

Katie's father, Albin, founded the Fan-Based organization known as the 'Fighting 501st'. This organization's focus was ironically enough fund raisers for childrens charities, the 'make a wish' foundation, and various childrens hospital visits as costumed Star Wars characters. That along with the community service and sacrifice he had personally given makes the families story all the more compelling. The family has a deep personal faith and strength but faith and strength can only go so far with mounting bills, from medical to travel to get the best help for Katie.

NEW STAR CON 3 - TILLBURG, HOLLAND

The New Star Con team have added a few Star Wars names to their site:

In addition to these actors, they will have a lot of guests from TV and movies like BUFFY & MATRIX.

A GALAXY OF STARS - BIGGEST UK CELEBRATION OF STAR WARS AND DR. WHO

I just found out about this great convention being held in Weston-Super-mare, Sommerset, in England. It promises to be the biggest celebration of Star Wars and Dr. Who in the UK so far this year, and by looking at the guests attending t looks very promising.

They will have some rare signers among them, including John Fensom, who was in the suit for TC-14 (the droid that welcomed Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan to Nute Gunray's starship in The Phantom Menace.)

Star Wars cast includes:

WATTOGRAPHS' STAR WARS CELEBRATION AUTOGRAPHS

We've had a lot of email asking about Star Wars Celebration autographs for those of you who can't go.

  • Wattographs will be making autographs from Celebration 3 guests available for sale

  • Wattographs WILL take personal items for people who have certain things they'd like signed. We are the ONLY autograph site who will be providing this.

  • Wattographs will be competitively priced, but we're waiting to find out prices from the show before we put things up to order. Don't rush to order something only to pay a LOT more for it than you should be.

We'll have more information available as it becomes known to us.

Star Wars Artist Randy Martinez had this to say over on another site's forums:

"Good news. Everything is set for Celebration 3 as far as artists go. The biggest news. Each artist will be able to make 250 limited edition, only available at Celebration 3 lithographs of their work. Meaning one special piece of art work that will ONLY be available at Celebration 3. signed and numbered by the artists. They will be marked with Celebration 3 logo too."
